Social Fund for Development
The Social Fund for Development, launched by the Ministry of Planning and in cooperation with the World Bank, seeks to improve living conditions and opportunities for the poor and marginalized in Iraq. This is done by improving their access to basic services and creating short-term job opportunities at the local level. The overall objective of the Social Fund for Development is to promote stabilization efforts in Iraq, restoring trust between the citizen and the state, Developing institutional measures that seek to enhance social cohesion and pay attention to local development priorities. It is expected that the community sub-projects will have a positive social impact by increasing the level of empowerment and social cohesion by involving the various components of society to think together in determining priorities and common needs in their communities. The project targets the communities within the centrally selected sub-districts, and the selection will be on the targeted communities within the Social Fund for Development project. The selection is made according to the total population, the poverty rate, and the level of services available to members of society.
With unremitting efforts and high-level cooperation between the Social Fund for Development team and the World Bank team, The work teams have completed all the requirements and arrangements necessary to start work on service projects in the governorates of Muthanna and Salah al-Din. Among these requirements is the completion of environmental and social studies for projects. We are pleased to publish these documents (in English) for your reference:
