The Ministry of Planning held , on Tuesday, in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), a consultative session on developing and designing a public sector skills survey and platform.
The Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Maher Hammad Johan, praised during the opening of the session the level of cooperation with ESCWA and the volume of support provided by the organization to Iraq. He added, “The Ministry’s relationship with ESCWA is good. They are our partners in many basic issues, especially in the issue of voluntary reports, the return of the displaced, files, the experimental program, the issue of sustainable development and administrative governance, stressing the importance of working with the organization on the issue of climate change in the next stage, as it is one of Important topics For his part, Dr. Karam Karam, the ESCWA Regional Adviser, said: The session mainly aims to monitor the skills and competencies of the public sector and how to develop them, in addition to developing a system that allows the various ministries, departments and public institutions to identify job description points and the skills required for each public job at different levels. levels, and how these competencies are available in the labor market in general.
In addition, the Director General of the Department of Human Development at the Ministry, Dr. Maha Abdul Karim Al-Rawi, said: The platform aims to study Iraq’s readiness for the availability of databases related to the skills and jobs required in the public sector. In addition to preparing a methodology for executing a survey of existing skills, qualifications, and jobs required in the public sector. Adding, “The session also aimed to consult technical support to design the appropriate data platform for Iraq, while reviewing the tasks of the partner agencies to define roles and connections.”
The session witnessed a presentation on the advisory tasks and another presentation on the job number database in the public sector, presented by the Director General of the Information Technology Department, Mr. Abbas Abdul Kadhim. In addition to a presentation dealing with labor market indicators for the year 2021, presented by the Director General of Technical Affairs at the Central Statistics Organization, Qusay Abdel Fattah.
A number of general managers in the ministry participated in the two-day session, in addition to representatives of the Federal Service Council, and relevant authorities, as well as a number of the ministry’s employees and formations.
