Ministry of Planning discusses with the Iraqi Parliament its role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and preparations for Iraq’s third national voluntary report

The Ministry of Planning continues for the fifth consecutive day. holding national consultations. To prepare Iraq’s third voluntary sustainable development report for 2025. in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program.
Today. Holding the fifth consultative session, which was with the Iraqi parliament. and its role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry for Technical Affairs, Dr. Maher Hammad Johan, explained In a speech:
that Iraq will present its third voluntary sustainable development report to the United Nations during its participation in the high-level political forum in New York next July, stressing the importance of the role of the Iraqi parliament in participating and presenting its achievements and what it has achieved from the sustainable development goals. Being the legislative authority in the country, he pointed out the importance of cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) by strengthening this cooperation in various fields. He pointed out that the third voluntary report will be different from the previous two reports in the model that Iraq will present, stressing the importance of the report and its role in highlighting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
For her part, Dr. Hanaa Ismail, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, spoke: “The voluntary report that will be presented in New York will determine where Iraq is, and what is the goal of the future, so it represents a starting point for the next stage through the challenges that have been accomplished,” she added, “The Ministry is keen for the House of Representatives to have a role in achieving the goal of analyzing the impact of legislation of an economic nature, and the importance of the law and its alignment in the development plan.
The workshop included discussing important developments and achievements made by the Iraqi government in various fields during the past period, in addition to exchanging views and ideas on how to enhance cooperation between all concerned parties in order to formulate a report that reflects the reality in a comprehensive and accurate manner. The workshop also included a presentation on the themes of the report by expert Dr. Wafaa Al Mahdawi. The workshop was attended by a number of deputies, general directors , in addition to a number of department heads, experts and university professors.
