The fourth meeting of the Finance Committee and the twenty-fifth meeting of the Board of Directors of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) were held in the city of Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for the period 24-25 / 5/ 2023, with the participation of member states in the two meetings, including Iraq.
The Iraqi delegation was headed by Eng. Ban Ibrahim Nowruz, Director General of the Standardization Department in the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control of the Ministry of Planning.
Newroz said that Iraq actively participates through the Standardization Department in the membership of the Institute’s committees and activities, including: membership of the Board of Directors, membership of the Finance Committee, membership of the committee devoted to reviewing the governance documents of the Institute, membership of the Technical Committee of Metrology, as well as Iraq’s participation in the membership of the Technical Committee for Accreditation through The Iraqi Accreditation Authority. She emphasized the great importance of these participations in developing the standardization, quality and accreditation sector in Iraq and facilitating international trade
