The Department of Regional and Local Development at the Ministry of Planning participated in the workshop organized by the National Security Advisory on climate change and the definition of legislation. A statement by the ministry stated that the sustainable development section in the department participated in the workshop, which dealt with the challenges and opportunities of climate change and the identification of the necessary legislation for it. During which the analysis of the environment of Iraqi legislation related to environmental protection was reviewed, As well as combating climate change and the stages of development of legislation, As well as the application of environmental laws in Iraq. The statement added that the workshop also included the relationship between climate factors, pollution levels, environmental risks and the tangible negative effects of climate change. As well as means of adaptation and mitigation and strategies to deal with climate change with a statement of challenges and opportunities in the field of suitability of the environment of Iraqi legislation. The statement pointed out that the workshop concluded with the submission of a number of proposals by representatives of the ministries participating in the workshop. Representatives of the concerned ministries and relevant authorities participated in the workshop.
