The Ministry of Planning announced on Tuesday, an increase in the inflation rate during the month of January, by a rate of (3.6%), compared to the last month of 2022.
The official spokesperson for the ministry, Mr. Abdul Zahra Al Hindawi, stated in a statement, the teams of the Central Statistical Organization, through its follow-up to the movement of prices in the Iraqi local markets, in all provinces, It recorded changes in the inflation rate during the aforementioned month. Pointing out that the monthly average increase was affected by the rise in the number of commodity totals, the prices of the transportation department increased by (7.7%). Catering department recorded an increase in its prices by (6.7%). As for the supplies and equipment section, its prices increased by (4.2%), and the Miscellaneous Goods and Services section rose by (3.9%) as a result of the rise in gold prices without wording. The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by (3.8%).
On the annual inflation rate, the statement explained, it recorded an increase of (7.2%), compared to the first month of the previous year 2022.
The statement pointed out that the monthly inflation rate during the last month of 2022 (December) had recorded an increase of (0.3%).
