The National Center for Management Development and Information Technology in the Ministry of Planning held an introductory awareness seminar on preparing the gender-responsive budget in Iraq. As a continuation of the workshop that was held earlier with the support of Interuse International, the German Agency for International Development (GIZ) and the Central Statistics Organization at the Ministry of Planning. It was presented by the center’s expert, Mrs. Inam Erhim, and a statement from the Ministry stated that the symposium aims to: introduce the concepts of gender mainstreaming and how to prepare a gender-responsive budget and its links with other public budgets. The statement added, “The dissemination of this concept will contribute to knowing how government spending is on both sexes in a way that achieves equality and social justice.” A number of the Center’s employees and relevant authorities participated in the symposium.
