The Ministry of Planning continues its preparations for the preparation of the second voluntary report on sustainable development
In cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, the Ministry of Planning continues its practical preparations for preparing the second voluntary national report for sustainable development, which Iraq will submit to the United Nations during the meetings of the high-level political forum, which will be held next July.
In this context, the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Maher Hammad Johan, chaired today, Monday, a meeting of the report writing team, during which they discussed the measures that the Ministry is taking in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, to hold the first national consultation workshop regarding the preparation of the report.
Mr. Al-Wakeel stated that it is hoped to hold this workshop before the end of the current month of March, with the participation of representatives of local governments in a number of governorates, as well as representatives of universities, the private sector and civil society in those governorates, in addition to the directors of planning and statistics in the covered governorates, pointing out that the workshop The first will be, and other workshops will follow, targeting different groups of society, such as youth and women. Pointing out the goal of these workshops, is to lay down the general framework and details included in the second voluntary report for sustainable development, explaining that the report will address the success stories that have been achieved in the governorates in the field of sustainable development goals, as well as explain the challenges and obstacles that impede the implementation of those goals.
It is worth noting that Iraq had submitted its first national voluntary report for sustainable development in 2019, and it received great attention and praise from the international community.
