Planning organizes a workshop on supporting food security projects and assessing agricultural needs in the governorates (Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Anbar)
The Department of Regional and Local Development in the Ministry of Planning, in cooperation with the Al-Aghsan Foundation for Agricultural and Environmental Development, organized a workshop on supporting food security projects and assessing agricultural needs in three governorates (Nineveh, Salah al-Din, and Anbar) in the presence of the Director of the Department of Regional and Local Development in the Ministry of Planning, Dr. Muhammad Al-Sayed and representatives of Al-Aghsan for Agricultural and Environmental Development, representatives of the planning directorates in the governorates mentioned above, as well as a number of employees of the sectors planning departments and regional and local development.
The Director of the Regional and Local Development Department at the Ministry of Planning, Dr. Muhammad Al-Sayed, said: In order to strengthen partnerships and achieve the foundations and goals of sustainable development in Iraq, we held this seminar in cooperation with the Aghsan Foundation for Agricultural Development, which is one of the civil society organizations and within the support team of the National Committee for Sustainable Development, and added During the workshop, a number of experiences and success stories in the governorates of Nineveh, Salah al-Din and Anbar were reviewed regarding education, especially distance education, as well as agricultural development, which is one of the successful experiences and a point of light that can help farmers in developing agriculture. He continued by saying: We presented several projects and department plans. Regional and local development in relation to rural development, as there are surveys of most of the rural villages in the governorates that will contribute to identifying important indicators and spatial development gaps that contribute to the reconstruction of these villages at the lowest costs and as a result there will be a renaissance of development and reconstruction in the various villages and a balance between rural and urban as well as contributing In activating agricultural production, it will also contribute to activating industrial production related to agriculture, and this is what we seek To achieve spatial development in all the governorates of Iraq.
For his part, Deputy Chairman and Director of Programs at Aghsan Foundation, Dr. Muhammad Al-Zuhairi, said:
The Aghsan Foundation has been working hard, since its inception, through its launch locally and internationally, especially as it is a member of the United Nations Office of Combating Desertification, and added, "We held this workshop in order to coordinate between the Foundation’s effort and the effort made by the Ministry of Planning with the aim of investing the efforts made by the Ministry in the agricultural and environmental fields. , Indicating that the aim of the workshop is to present a summary of the Foundation's work in the field of its projects and partnerships and the impact it had on the projects implemented by the Foundation, and indicated that the effort exerted by the Foundation is complementary to the government effort.
The workshop witnessed several presentations on the Foundation and its goals in sustainable development, in addition to projects to improve food security, afforestation projects, and increase green areas, as well as the agricultural graduate training project and the return to education project, presented by representatives of the Aghsan Foundation for Agricultural and Environmental Development.
