Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Technical Affairs, Dr. Maher Hammad Johan, revealed the formation of the Private Sector Development Council in its final form at the end of November. During his presidency of a meeting with representatives of the private sector in the presence of the Director General of the Legal Department in the Ministry, Dr. Hana Ismail, the Director General of the Economic Department, Dr. Alaa El Din Jaafar, and the representative of the United Nations Development Program on the formation of the Private Sector Development Council. He added, "Johan said that this meeting came to settle the issue of forming the council, assuming that it will see the light in its final form this month, according to the direction of the Minister of Planning, Dr. Khaled Battal Al-Najm, in a temporary case, given that the difficulty in adopting decisions or laws for the formation of the council, as it is formed temporarily for a period of one or two years in The basic sectors, indicating that the implementation of the private sector in the council will be higher than that of the government’s representation, which is chaired temporarily by the Ministry of Planning until the file is completed in the Council and begins its work. He indicated that the Private Sector Development Board is a voluntary council that does not charge the state any amount, its purpose To proceed with their basic goals to participate in developing strategies and plans as well as general directions that guarantee the rights of the private sector by facilitating procedures and organizing its work, and he explained that the formation of the Private Sector Development Board is an important step in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program and the World Bank, especially at this stage in light of a severe economic crisis and recession, He pointed out that the meeting included a preliminary agreement on all the basics, and it is hoped that before the end of the month, this council may be finalized and represented.
For his part, Director General of the Economic Department at the Ministry of Planning, Dr. Alaa Eddin Jaafar, said: Everyone is aware of the importance of the role of the private sector in the Iraqi economy, despite its representation that includes many parties. He added, "The aim of the meeting is to agree on a specific formula in order to form a private sector development council to advance its work, provided that there is a unified vision that works with government agencies in order to provide the best that can be offered to the private sector." He added: Because this council will express itself, and it is I am aware of his problems so that he can be through the Ministry of Planning and other ministries, to represent his opinion correctly with the decision-maker, and as a result he will be a basic participant in his economic decision-making.
