Minister of Planning Dr. Nuri Sabah Al-Dulaimi received on Wednesday the new British Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Stephen Hickey, and his accompanying delegation. They discussed ways of enhancing joint relations between the two countries in various fields to serve the interests of both countries.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Nouri Al-Dulaimi congratulated His Excellency Ambassador Hickey on the occasion of his assignment as UK Ambassador to Iraq, praising the efforts made by Britain to stabilize and build Iraq. Supporting the development of the private sector in the light of its development strategy and enabling it to be able to achieve partnership and promote the developmental and service reality and provide more job opportunities for young people.
He pointed to the depth of bilateral relations between Iraq and Britain, which should reflect positively on national development, through contributing to the financing of small and medium enterprises for young people and support and empower women.
The Ambassador, Mr. Hickey, affirmed his country's readiness to provide more support to Iraq, especially with regard to the financing of the International Trust Fund and the implementation of reconstruction projects and the empowerment of governmental institutions concerned with development, praising the developmental role played by the Ministry of Planning, and its tireless endeavor to enhance cooperation with the community.
