Minister of Planning Dr. Nuri Sabah Al-Dulaimi received on Tuesday the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Ulrich Shannon, and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they discussed ways of enhancing joint relations to serve the interests of both countries.
Dr. Nouri al-Dulaimi congratulated Ambassador Shannon on the occasion of his assignment in Baghdad, praising the efforts made by the Canadian government to stabilize and build Iraq, calling on Canadian companies to take advantage of investment opportunities in all governorates and to provide specialized expertise in various development sectors. Foremost among them is the agricultural sector, with the aim of enhancing food security and spatial development, and supporting government efforts to develop the private sector and provide more job opportunities for young people and develop Iraqi expertise.
The Canadian Ambassador affirmed his country's readiness to further joint cooperation with Iraq, especially with regard to co-financing service projects and reconstruction projects, praising the strategy and efforts of the Ministry of Planning to achieve development in the country.
The meeting discussed Iraq's vision for sustainable development 2030 prepared by the Ministry of Planning, and promote administrative decentralization through the work of twinning between Iraqi cities and Canadian counterparts, and joint cooperation to overcome the challenges of the ministry's five-year plan to achieve economic reform and recovery of society and increase the average per capita income and reduce unemployment and achieve human security For the poorest.
