The minister of planning/acting the Minister of Trade, Dr. Salman Al-Jameeli, met in his office with the Turkish ambassador in Iraq, Mr. Fatih Yaldiz, a number of issues of common interest between the two countries in the forefront of the ongoing preparations for the Kuwait conference of donor countries in the 12th of February.
Dr. Al-jameeli confirmed the importance of the Turkish role in the success of the Donors Conference, as well as its role in the reconstruction operations, indicating that trade and economic relations between the two countries began recovering after that were affected by the circumstances that Iraq has experienced over the past three years of the existence of terrorist Kenya which reflected negatively on the volume of trade exchange between the two countries as a result of the vulnerability of the common border ports security conditions, assuring that the Iraqi government to rehabilitate the opening and subjecting all border outlets to the federal authorities, calling on Turkish companies to contribute to the reconstruction operations and access to great investment opportunities.
The Turkish ambassador in Iraq, Mr. FATIH YILDIZ, stated that the Turkish position is strongly supportive of the efforts of the Government of Iraq in the reconstruction and development, revealing that his country will participate in Kuwait conference of donor countries will announce the size of the support to be provided by Iraq whether grant or soft loan or investment contributions.
The Planning Ministry's statement indicated that the two sides discussed during the meeting to strengthen bilateral relations in the areas of standardization and quality control for the Customs Cooperation and the gold trade and rehabilitation of the border between the two countries.
It is hoped that the Minister of Planning Dr. Salman Al-Jameeli, on an official visit to Ankara on the first and the second of the month of February to discuss with the Turkish side, inter alia, in the common issues.
