The minister of planning, Dr. Salman Al-Jameeli, met Japanese deputy chief of mission in Baghdad, Mr. Akira Ando, a number of files related to the development of commercial and economic relations between the two countries.
Dr. Al-jameeli confirmed during the meeting the importance of the development of bilateral relations with the state of Japan, one of the close ties and long history, pointing out that the orientations of the Iraqi government is openness toward the international community and achieving more joint cooperation relations so as to strengthen the network of economic relations with friendly countries. He pointed out that the government seeks to open investment prospects in all areas in order to strengthen the Iraqi economy and giving investors a chance to contribute to the reconstruction operations and implementation of the strategic projects with a view to relocation of industries and the development of the industrial sector in Iraq.
The meeting witnessed a discussion of mechanisms for the implementation of a number of service projects, especially in the area of electric power projects financed by the Japanese loan, both sides stressed the need to overcome the difficulties and constraints facing the implementation of such projects, the two sides also discussed the possibility of entry of Japanese companies to invest in Iraq under Iraqi investment law as well as the opening of branches of those companies for production and distribution inside Iraq in the framework of the Commercial Agencies Law who will hopefully be adopted soon
The Japanese deputy chief of mission in Baghdad, Mr. Akira Ando, stated according to a statement of the Information Office of the Ministry of Planning - that his country considered with great interest for Iraq as it seeks to develop bilateral relations in all areas. Calling on the Iraqi side to take advantage of the Japanese loan for financing the service projects which would provide services to Iraqi citizens, especially in the field of electricity, because the temperatures in summer Sees Big Rise in their rates. He pointed out that the Japanese participation in the Baghdad International Fair in its session this year will be large and distinct through the presence of a few large companies in various fields. Directed Call Trade Minister Minister of Planning Agency, to attend the inauguration ceremony of the japanese wing in the Baghdad International Fair, which it is hoped to begin its work on the 21st of this month.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the planning sectors in the Ministry of Planning, the director general of the Registrar of Companies in the ministry of trade and a number of officials in the two ministries.
