Iraq and the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) signed a framework for joint cooperation between the two parties.
The agreement was signed on the Iraqi side by the Minister of Planning, Prof. Dr. Khaled Battal Al-Najm, while it was signed by the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) Deputy Special Representative and Humanitarian Coordinator Ms. Irina Solorano.
The Minister of Planning said, in a statement after the signing ceremony, "Today we signed a framework for cooperation between the Iraqi government and the United Nations Mission through which we will work to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals for the next four years, noting that this cooperative framework includes five strategic priorities, namely ( Social cohesion and cohesion, improving the economic situation, government services, environmental protection and addressing the problem of the displaced in Iraq), stressing that this framework, which the International Cooperation Department worked in the Ministry, represents a continuation of cooperation under the previous agreements signed between the two sides, as we worked closely during the past year to crystallize This framework agreement that establishes partnership and support by organizations operating under the misleading United Nations and donor countries to support Iraq in achieving sustainable development goals and addressing what the country has gone through as a result of the Corona pandemic, which is still ongoing, praising the role of the United Nations with all its programmes, institution and various organizations that worked with Iraq In different circumstances, I am still providing assistance and support, especially in light of the current difficult health conditions.
For her part, the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Mission, Ms. Irina Solorano, expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Planning for his cooperation and quest to achieve a better life for all Iraqis, indicating that this document signed today is not new, but rather an update of the document that was previously agreed upon to include a plan Returning the displaced to their areas of residence and addressing the impact of the Corona pandemic, and that these needs came to meet the requirements of the Iraqi people. A plan and precise details of future projects will be developed, as well as for dialogue with donors to ensure the realization of these projects included in the framework of the United Nations work in Iraq.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Azhar Hussein, as well as the Director General of the International Cooperation Department in the Ministry of Planning, Dr. Saher Abdel-Kadhim.
