The Minister of Planning, Prof. Dr. Khaled Battal Al-Najm, received today, Sunday, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Iraq, Reda Zaqedan.
During the meeting, they discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries in various fields, foremost of which is economic and investment cooperation, and the exchange of experiences.
The Minister of Planning affirmed that Iraq is ready to cooperate with Tunisia in a way that strengthens and develops bilateral relations, indicating that the future development direction of the Ministry of Planning is to reduce dependence on oil and diversify sources of the economy, by focusing on investments in the field of clean energy, indicating, The establishment of sovereign funds, to support the investment movement, has become one of the developmental trends, by financing these funds from the surplus of oil sales, while rationalizing the state's public spending, pointing out that economic reform policies require an appropriate time for citizens to see their results.
For his part, the Tunisian ambassador appreciated the exceptional efforts made by the Iraqi government to contain the complex health and economic crisis, expressing his country's readiness to open new horizons for joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
