The Minister of Planning, Prof. Khaled Battal Al-Najm, said today, Sunday, that the Council of Ministers authorized the Ministry of Planning to set the date for the implementation of the general population census at the time it deems appropriate.
This came during the minister chairing a meeting of the Operations Room, the Executive Administration and the sectors of work in the General Population Census, which was attended by the advisor of the United Nations Population Fund, Dr. Mahdi Al-Alaq.
The minister added that the ministry is continuing its preparations for the implementation of the population census, due to the exceptional importance it represents for development, indicating that these preparations will focus on providing the infrastructure requirements for the project, especially with regard to providing maps and aerial photos for the administrative units, and the purchase of tablets, "tablets". Which will be used in the implementation of the census electronically, indicating that the maps for urban areas have become almost complete, while the completion of maps and satellite images for rural areas will soon begin, announcing at the same time that the work to establish a national data center is ongoing, and any party will be able to benefit from the data Provided by the census, with the exception of personal data related to individuals, which requires their personal consent to be available.
The minister went on to say that the ministry will ask all ministries, and entities not associated with the ministry and the governorates, to express their observations on the census form, with the aim of making it an integrated form, and the data provided by the census is of high development feasibility.
The meeting was attended by the head of the operations room, Dr. Dia Awwad Kazem, the executive director general of the census, Samir Khudair Hadi, and the heads of the various work sectors.
